Human beings are social animals, and the tenor of our social life is one of the most important influences on our mental health. Without positive, durable relationships, both our minds and our bodies fall apart. We begin life dependent for survival on the quality of relationship with our primary caregiver, usually Mom. And the nature of that relationship typically influences all others in our life. Our survival as a species similarly hinges on our capacity for social living. Walking is the natural recreation for a man who desires not absolutely to suppress his intellect but to turn  it out to play for a season, with many detours and way stations, and here we all are at one point or another. It's not a question of superior or inferior taste, merely a question of which detour we are on at the moment. Getting there (as they say) is not important; the wandering about in the wilderness or in the olive groves or in the bayous is the whole point.Above a ll do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday I walk myself into a state of well being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. This blog is an invitation to travel with me on a magical voyage that is both surreal and real…..Beauty through my lens. I am grateful for all the opportunities it has given me to travel in the beautiful part of the world. Although conceived as an invitation to escape, I like to think of this blog as “a project” because what has been created here is the fruit of my beginning. Today with the gratitude I feel expresses itself as a need to share that richness feeling that we all exist protected somehow by a benevolent presence. It became evident that I would need some technical advice from friends who were willing to facilitate my apprenticeship in the art of photography.
